Go All-Digital

Supporting the global environment we supply all software as digital downloads only. How can you participate?

We all can be part of the solution. Digital downloads are the "green" answer to demanding fewer resources for your computer's needs. What you get is software with an environmental footprint of zero while still staying up-to-date.

Digital downloads are one part of the larger trend in making our lives - both professional and personal - cleaner, more efficient, and better. Continue reading to see what else you can do to improve your green computing.

Limit screen-saver use. A screen saver does not save energy. In fact, more often than not, a screen saver not only will draw power for the monitor, but also will keep the CPU from shutting down. Instead, set your computer to turn off the monitor first, then go into standby mode after a longer period of inactivity.

Disconnect your Virtual Private Network (VPN) when not actively using your corporate network. Being connected may limit your system's ability to enter standby mode.

Many popular computer games and other third party software packages that run in the background will not allow the computer to go to sleep - even if they are paused or the active window is minimized.

Some web sites or pages that have active banners and or animated advertisements will not allow the computer to sleep on its own and must be closed, or the computer put manually into a sleep state.

Enabled power management to place your monitor, hard drives and computer into a low-power "sleep" mode after a period of inactivity.

Monitor/display sleep: Turn off after 15 minutes or less

Turn off hard drives/hard disk sleep: 15 minutes or less

System standby/sleep: After 30 minutes or less

Advanced users may wish to establish multiple power schemes to address different usage models. For example, you can create a power scheme for playing music CDs that shuts off your hard drive and monitor immediately, but never puts your system into standby mode.

To further reduce power consumption, turn off computing and peripheral devices that are not being used or being used for an extended period of time such as overnight.

Plug all your electronics into one surge protector, so you can easily switch them all off when you leave the room or go to sleep. Most power supplies (such as your cell phone charger) continue to draw power and generate heat even when not attached to a device.

AutoCAD® Architecture software is the version of AutoCAD® software created for architects. AutoCAD Architecture supports a faster way of working. Purpose-built features for architectural drafting help you create designs and documents more efficiently, in the familiar AutoCAD software environment.

Features

Streamlined User Interface AutoCAD Architecture software, the version of AutoCAD for architects, features a sleek user interface that offers optimized desktop organization, a larger drawing window, and quicker access to tools and commands. Find your favorite tools faster, locate lesser-used tools more efficiently, and discover new features more easily. The user interface design is consistent across many Autodesk products, helping to reduce your learning curve as you move between applications.
Detail Creation & Annotation Document and annotate faster with the robust library of detail components and powerful keynoting tools. Automate the creation of details and maintain consistent annotation. When your architectural details are complete, you can generate keynote legends in just a few clicks.
Walls, Doors & Windows Draw and document using walls, doors, and windows that mimic real-world behavior and construction. Modify walls and their endcap conditions on a component level for improved handling of common wall conditions, such as angled, cornered, or intersecting fire-rated walls. Automatically insert and place doors or windows with precise control. Move any wall, and all connected walls and spaces automatically update. Use familiar AutoCAD architectural drafting commands such as Fillet and Chamfer on flexible wall components.
Space Tagging & Documentation Automatically tag every room in your drawing, complete with room areas. Change the bounding elements, and spaces update automatically, saving you time and helping to make documentation more accurate. Space definitions can include offsets from bounding elements based on preset rules or rules you define, enabling area calculations that reflect a variety of industry standards, including BOMA, DIN, and SIS.
Sections & Elevations Generate 2D sections and elevations with material hatching directly from your floor plans. If your design changes, AutoCAD Architecture generates fully updated section and elevation graphics, maintaining layer, color, linetype, and other properties.
Scheduling Easily customize the look of out-of-the-box schedule styles to meet your company's standards. Or create new schedules from scratch, complete with your required calculations. Schedules link directly to your designs and can update instantly to reflect design changes.
Wall Dimensioning With AutoCAD Architecture AEC Dimensions, you can dimension any wall and all its components according to your own dimensioning standards, including wall stud centerlines and faces. Associative dimensions automatically update as your designs change, eliminating the need for manual updates.
Integrated Rendering Bring designs to life for impressive client presentations at any stage of design. Streamlined visualization capabilities are fully integrated into the AutoCAD Architecture workflow. Accelerate architectural review cycles by publishing directly to DWF™ or DWFx file formats.
